oooh I have to jump on this thread too... Ryan and I are heading off for his first school visit in the next 30mins.. (I so should get off here, ooops).
Ryans my youngest, and I'm finding it a little emotional that 'my baby'is going to be a big school boy.
Not helped by the fact that he's off to a Catholic school, so has a uniform, which makes him look so grown up!! My elder 3 all went to state schools, so no uniform until they hit intermediate.
And Ryan is so tiny, his uniform his huge!! in fact they're having to make his shirts especially because he doesn't fit the smallest one they produce - it came down to his knees!!
Actually Cadiam you might be able to reassure me on this issue, because Cade was quite little when he went to school also right?
And I've been having drama's trying to find him 'school shoes' as he's only just in a sz 8 shoe & all the leather proper school shoes start at sz 10. But thank goodness they've said he can wear black sneakers... off to look for some after the school visit.
well thats enough rambling from me, better get organised for this visit..
"wish me luck" smile

How did the school visit go Anna? Tyler is going to a Catholic school too (even though we're not Cstholic) so we will be buying his uniform probably next week. I'm sure I will cry when I see him it!

Pudding that was a bit stink that the teacher hadn't organised the name tags.

Yes, the visit went well... and now he's actually started!! I'm not Catholic, but his dad is and that side of his family, plus all his cousins are there. And Ryan was baptised Catholic smile

That is stink about the name tag pudding... Ryan had one this morning, which made him (and me) feel much more welcome.. and he knew where to sit of course..

Anna-yep i hear you on the uniforms. we were lucky in that the uniform is quite small fitting and starts at a sz4 (we were obviously not the first petite catholics here smile ) over the last year he has grown SOOOO much, he looks a bit long and lanky now..im still in shock (he's still shorter than most of his friends..but not by too much) has just got that real all arms and legs boy look going on..AND he had to get a new uniform a sz6 ...im sure i must've shrunk the other one..bcos i look in it now and its had to believe he fitted it under a year ago.

shoes-our school is more than happy with black sandals with the velcro across thing -as long as they are plain black..which i found in his size at the shoe warehouse...and also a pair of black sneakers that are plain black and quite swish looking...also found at the shoe warehouse -they dont have velcro or laces they are kind of theose modern slip on slip off ones..works realllly well for him.
shorts i got from postie plus as they came down to a sz3 and that was pretty important as the sz4 fell down on him...now he's in sz4 shorts and they fit perfect.

oh we had that with the nametag on 1st day too..a bit of a bummer..as its one of the little things they are sooo excited about/expecting

DS has just finished his third day at school and just went into the classroom today with hardly a backward glance for me! He did ask this morning though "When is the holiday going to be?" grin
