Chippie, i just cut out the pic from the front of the invitations! Found the strawberry lollies at countdown, and just made butter icing with red food colouring and used strawberry essence (also from countdown)...
Easy peasy...
There is a lady on trademe who sells heaps of different kinds of party stuff, she had some strawberry shortcake things. My party was short notice so i just did the cake. She had some cool cupcake patty thingys..

Wow, what amazing cakes. I have only just come across this thread for the first time today.
Hera, hope you see this. I love the cake that you made, so bright and cheerful. I might pinch the design for Issie's first birthday if that's okay with you. I was wondering what the flower petals are made of? And did you use cooking chocolate?
Cheers
OK - After seeing Sandra's "wiggle car", I got all inspired as Cooper is Wiggle Mad. Decided Cooper would LOVE a car ..... but after realising I am the worlds most "UN-artistic" person in the world, realised my attempt would probably look nothing like a car .... but I attempted Dorothy the Dinosaur instead. Cooper turns 2 tomorrow, and when he saw it he said "Dorothy" ... so at least he knows what it is
Kamox that looks amazing!
And for what its worth I had my 2.5 y/o look at your pic of the cake and she instantly yelled out "DOROTHY!!!"
Hope Cooper has a wonderful birthday, wow to think he'll wake up in the morning and be a big 2 year old!
Now that Jake has had his birthday I decided to look at the cakes you guys have made - did not want to before I made his cake as I did not want to be unnerved.....lucky i did not - your cakes rock ladies!

Found the birthday cake thread in May (I can never get the search function to work - last time it worked was at least 6 months ago so I think it must not be working).
I love all the cakes. You all are very clever ladies.
my son is 1 in a few months he was a specail baby as I was not meant to have any.
He was a little monkey in me and is a little monkey now still, I would love to get a pic of a checky monkey to do for his cake. Any tips or ideas and help are greatly needed.
Nix31, Nikki from Nix-Kidz has a "cheeky monkey" fleece that she uses for her products. Here's a link of an auction running at the moment Nix-Kidz Cheeky Monkey
I would imagine that it would be pretty easy to replicate as it's just a roundish face (I would find body parts more difficult to do).
HTH
Very impressive ladies. An easy idea I have used heaps is printing out a big number on the computer - number of child's b'day and placing it on a cake made in a square tin andcutting around it. Then decorate. Also blowing up favourite cartoon/character etc out of picture book or colouring book on the photocopier to fit size of your tin then decorate with the book as a guide.
Aires - that train cake looks wicked! You did a great job!! Id like to make a Train cake for Reece's 3rd birthday, as shes mad on Trains...we are going to have her birthday on a train so she will love that!
Here is a cake I made for her 2nd birthday.
