I am having a terrible time in the evenings with my 6-7mth old. He has a bottle and kumera at 4.30pm and then I am waiting for an emptyish tummy to give him his losec cap at 6.00pm then bottle at 6.30pm then bed. Problem is he is starving and hanging out for his bottle. He has started a new crying technique which comes in the form of screaming -tantrum looking! What do people suggest? If I don't give his losec late he will be up all night hourly. As it is I spoke to soon last week and he is now up at midnight screaming again. I have tried every distraction (bath, brother, TV, jolly jumper, playing etc) but he is just hanging out for his bottle. He could also do with going to bed earlier but that brings everything closer. He only has PJnr x 5 and kumera at 11am and then in the afternoon. He is a very hungry boy but I haven't found another food option yet that he can tolerate. Also can they react to 2 x kumera a day? Also are other 6-7mth old having a late afternoon nap and a dreamfeed? I stopped the dreamfeed as it set off his tummy through the night. Maybe my 4th baby but I am a little stumped! Thanks

what times does he have his other bottles? Is it possible to drag dinner out like bath at 4:30 then tea then bottle at 6? then losec 1/2 hour before bed? Would that work? I guess its alot harder with 3 other kids. How long is he up after his last bottle? Hugs! these kids sure break the moulds dont they LOL

My 7 month old has 4 bottles per day at 5 hour intervals + 3 solid feeds per day.
Yes, I still give him a 'dreamfeed' at about 9.30 - 10pm as usually it is the best drinking time and can almost guarantee he will drink between 150 - 200mls.

The reason to give Losec half an hour before a feed is because then it is working for that feed. If it leads to stress for either him or you then don't worry about the gap and give the feed as you think best.
Kumera is a well tolerated solid. Many babies with reflux have a problem with the amount of solids over a day rather than the type (avoiding the obvious problem ones like dairy, fruit and gluten). Start with small amounts and increase slowly only when tolerated. It is important to start solids at the correct age also and to continue with something even if it is only one safe food for developmental reasons. Have a look on Crying Over Spilt Milk on the "Food and Reflux" page for more information.

I'm away on holiday with a dodgy internet connection so may not be back in touch for a few days.
