Hi Lelo

I agree with the dietician and would have thought Soy oil would be more problematic than the Canola oil. I know the other questions she ask are not likely to have been the problem either. Why on earth would you contaminate the advanced when you don't the regular??? I think the problem is most likely to be the different balances of fats, amino acids, sugars etc. I agree the different balances of minerals and vitamins shouldn't be a problem. I would tend to start off with even less Advanced to Neocate but I'm not a dietician. I think 50/50 would be too much. We did the same when changing Gem from goat's milk formula to UHT goat's milk. I think we made up one less scoop and replaced that with the UHT stuff - so 25ml UHT, 125ml formula. Are you concentrating the Neocate?

My dairy challenge is finished. Need to fax the immunologist. What I have said previously is as bad as it got. I haven't had any dairy today and haven't needed Panadol for a headache. Still had Losec this morning as it was a bit burnie - but then I had dairy milk chocolate last night. The chocolate wasn't as good as I remember - overrated!!! Planning on doing the rye bread or wheat free muesli next, to test out gluten but I aren't so confident about that. I can't make any decision on it not working until I have reached my full dose of medication, and at the moment I am okay on the current dose so aren't in a hurry to increase it up. I still can't imagine that it would be a good thing to eat these foods all the time when I know my body reacts to them - and the histamine is just being suppressed by medication. But a cheeseburger...or garlic bread... hmmm

All appointments over for now - although I need to phone and make my dental checkup. It never ends! I wanted to discuss with my GP first, my wisdom teeth because every time I see the dentist he wants to remove them and I figured I didn't need the stress at the moment - but I have been using that excuse for years. Unless they have decay I have my GP's support on that one. Miss 15's GP is confident that she will get a diagnosis of some description and that treating dizziness may well solve diarrhoea and headache as well. I don't know if that is realistic but it is possible.

gosh it sounds like you spend half your life at appointments roz! i don't know how you get anything done \:\) hope they can get a diagnosis for you 15 year old, it must be quite stressful for her at that age battling ongoing diarrhoea \:\(

wow lelo, even though you had to give a bottle last night, sounds like things are better than they were a few weeks ago? hope tonight is back to none \:\) we're ok now thanks. though luca's passed on his chesty cough to kahn, but at least that confirms it's viral and nothing else nasty!! no more asthma attacks, though he's needed his ventolin far more often than i would like, but he's just soooo wheezy \:\( looks less pale today though. trialing the puffed corn at the moment. no horrible reactions thus far (started last night), so fingers crossed - we could be on a roll!!!

Just a quick hello to all - have not had a chance to come online in the last two days!!! Maia has been pretty good for me and I have even managed to get out of the house to visit a friend!! YAY for regaining some social life. She is still a bit grizzly and very windy but the sleeping has settled down and feeding okay - can't complain eh?

Bri - glad to hear Luca is doing better too. Hope Khan feels better soon. Bring on winter bugs!

Lelo - poor Leo and the teething....yay that he has gone to bed asleep. Hope he is not so grumpy tomorrow and have a good sleep.

Anyway, it is 8.15pm and I have not eaten dinner so better get some food! SO hungry. Be back soon...hopefully.

Just checking in too - and I am about to head off to bed soon. Gave Ian some soy yoghurt for lunch - he had mild spots/rash around his nappy area by tonight - but then I am not actually sure if that is also related to teething, plus he was refluxing tonight (so teething and a potentially a cold too...), plus we had a poo afternoon nap (so tired as well)

Glad you had a better night kells

Hi to everyone else

Hi gals. Quick hello from me. Been a long day but a good day. DH had to stay late at work tonight so I had to manage the girls bedtime routine by myself for the first time! But we all survived! \:\) Girls have been a bit off colour the last couple of days. Jess has another tooth virtually through and they've both had a little tummy bug. But they seem to have come right now. \:\) Off to gp's tomorrow to get the chicken pox vaccines done - had to see the doctor last week and get it ordered in. expecting a long night friday with fevers, but hopefully it won't be 48 hours this time ....

to everyone. Hope you all have good nights ....

back to see the immunologist next week .... also got the girls weighed last friday at the doctors and they've both put on good weights! \:\) The only downside is that I weighed their clothes and nappies after (cause they've always been weighed in their clothes etc for the last few months) and found that it weighs 0.5kg! I was surprised it was so much! And of course it means that all their weights for the last few months have been wrong .... ah well .... but Jess is now 9.6kg and Claire is now 9.1kg. So Claire is on the 20th percentile and Jess is on the 40th percentile. So there weights aren't quite as good as I thought they'd been, but at least they've both put on 0.5kg in the last 6 weeks. \:\) I looooooove the antihistamines!!! Have I said that already!!

Lelo - good to hear that you survived another night. Good luck hunting out those ducks...how cute. Weather is absolute horrid in Akl. YAY for a kiddie free lunch - you deserve it so ENJOY!!!! I do hope Leo continues to be happy today for you. \:\) Tell me, what can Leo NOT eat?? (i.e. what is he allergic/intolerant to)....that way I can see if I can come up with some food ideas for you. Hope you manage to bake him some goodies that are 'Leo-friendly'... If I ever venture to the BOP I will bring Leo some soy yoghurt...LOL...we are thinking of taking Maia on a little road trip/holiday in July but have not decided where yet...but prob just to the Coromandels.

Dophin - so fab to hear the girls are putting on good amounts of weight and eating well. Those antihistamines must be doing their magic!! How are they for you today?

Bri - how are your boys? How are you?? Khan feeling better? You managing to get more food into Luca??

HannahKate - James sounds so cute...don't you just love how they have an answer/comment for everything at their age!?! Hope the sun is shining there....send some this way...winter is really starting to set in.

Maia slept till 6:45am this morning - AMAZING! I hope it continues but she was in a rather good mood yesterday. Perhaps the 50/50 Losec split is helping and we are using Infacol a lot to help with her wind. She still insists on having her dummy during her day sleeps but whatever makes her happy makes me happy right?? \:\) We will work on the dummy at a later stage...LOL...funny kid doesn't need it to go to sleep but if she wakes she HAS to have it to go back to sleep....

HUGS everyone and hope it is a good day for all.

OK firm restrictions are NO dairy, soy, wheat, gluten nuts fish and eggs, he also wont touch fruit and vege unless puree and then only mixed vege and pear. He can pretty much have anything else within reason but wont grrrrrr Any ideas would be much appreciated. I tried buckwheat pancakes today and he wasnt having a bar of those, same with rice bread etc etc! Its so hard when he wont touch things grrrrrrrrrrr I hope that you do make it on on hols with Maia at some stage \:\) HUGS

LOL - that is what happens when yo bury your head in the sand and ignore everything combined with it then taking forever to get seen. Still haven't phoned the dentist. \:\(
I had some yoghurt whip cream thingy the other night that had some gluten listed as an ingredient. Tummy pains within an hour. ouch. But nothing much else - but they were too severe to ignore and I only had a couple of teaspoonfuls. Will have to test it out more. Have finally faxed the immunologist.

LOL Lelo....poor little Leo, there sure is quite a few restrictions for a little person's diet. No wonder you are finding it hard!!! Hmm...I will see what I can come up with. When you say no nuts...is that ALL types of nuts?? A quick suggestion for now...not sure if you have already tried...but how about a smoothie with banana in it...I suppose you could make it using his formula or a rice milk, some ice, honey and if he likes it you could even whizz it up with some cereal that he could have, rice flakes or something??? Then you could even add frozen blueberries or other berries (if he is not allergic to them!!). I found that this was a good breakfast or snack for my friend's little girl who just refused most foods....boy she was stubborn when it came to eating and lived on her bottle for a long time....she did not have any food intolerances though. I'm sure you have already heard this before but sometimes you will need to offer a new food to a toddler up to 10 times before they may accept it....however, the rules could be different for a reflux baby but just a thought!

Roz - good luck with the wisdom teeth! Had all mine surgically removed under sedation many years ago....it was not a pleasant experience especially when I had a reaction to the painkillers they gave me afterwards. Do you know if Maia is too little to have tests carried out by an immunologist? She keeps getting awful ezcema flare ups and other spots/rashes and I was hoping to see if it was something else I was eating....or perhaps environmental. Been trying to keep a track of what I've been eating but so far I can't be sure.

How has everyone else's day gone? Hope it was a good one. I had one very whingy grizzly girl that would not let me put her down today. Had trouble with BF her this afternoon and she kept waking up from her naps and even the dummy wasn't working!!! Normally put her to bed 7pm and has not been a problem lately but tonight she was screaming as I think she had a sore tummy...gas maybe?! Hopefully it is not the reflux! Gave her another bath after an hour of crying and admistered every remedy I had in the house...pamol, colimed, infacol, gripe water....LOL...in the hope that something would help. Finally got her down and only to get her up again soon to BF her! Have a very sore back too cuz I think I pulled a muscle in my back when I picked her up today.... ...and I only spoke to the Paed this morning to tell him that she seems to be doing really well. Am to speak to him again next week so hopefully this is just a small set-back.

Enough of my moaning.....fingers crossed all the little kiddies sleep well tonight! Good night!

evening all. hope leo stayed happy for you today lelo! did you get to see the ducks?
sorry to hear things have got tricky over in your house today jazzie \:\( such a shame after how well things were going! hopefully it's like you said, just a small set back and she'll improve again for you soon.
well, poor kahn has been pretty grumpy with his cough (and sore throat i'm assuming...) and is losing his voice (not altogether a bad thing if it mutes the shopping mall hissy fit LOL). well, after my initial excitement over puffed corn, things ahve gone down hill today - should have known not to assume before day 3!!! started looking suss when he would only drink his morning bottles if given something to suck then swap with bottle (and only if he was standing up! little acrobat) then tonight we were down to 20ml bottles and flat refusal \:\( so we shall see how he is tomorrow, but not looking too promising \:\(
how are the girls today dolphin? hope the anti-histimines are still working their magic!!!
what a shame about the gluten roz!

Jazzi- I always get that too, you talk to pead, say its all find then something hits the fan! GRRR. And hope she settled and sleeps well tonight.
Roz-Wow on the gluten in yoghurt...you must eb super sensitive or could it be that if your ok with it, that your tummy has to get use to it again? god how do you know anyway!!!! Ps...when you ringing dentist? LOL Why do you have to ring if you and dr think you dont need the wisdom out?
Bri- hugs to Kahn, hope his cough/sore throat improves! Was that luca or kahn you were talking about with the corn trials? Hope little Luca is ok too.
Kells- And its so hard when you spend so much money on trying these things out and they ft refuse it too. Grrr charli hardly eating anything new and I want her to get a better palate now we have gluten back in her diet! Miss ya on msn ....hope you getting enough sleep to hun and you weren't dealing with Leo when I missed ya. hugs as always
Dolphins- So still happy days with the antihis then? What one did they put the girls on again? How have things been today?
HK- LOL I checked out airfare to aussie just to see how much more it would cost..it was only 1000 more for the 4 of us. We do have plans to come over at some stage but where in aussie not sure, probably head to steves zoo as that one thing cam still wants. Good luck with the trails of new bread.....hope those hissups are nothing. Man forgot how annoying hiccups were until i got them bad 3 times today. Not sore for me but blimmin annoying. Have fun with meeting Leanne, am sure you have lots of simialar stories to share and how neat to meet up.
Us- Well charli been plodding along I surpose ok. Very demanding and still teething her first lot of molars.....and looks like its all 4 of them at once. Still has rashes etc but slightly getting better with smoothing on the ointments. All this girl wants to do is walk walk and more walkies.....and it was raining quite hard out at 3 when we had to pick up Cam and she still wanted to walk, but at mo I have yet to find her a rain jacket so in the pram she went and we walked down the street ..me smiling her screaming haha! poor girl!
How does everyone deal with behaviour? Do you notice a difference in a allergy/reflux kid compared to the surposed "normal" kid? Do people/med and no med believe its due to these issues? I am starting to get wuite run down with all these issues and then dealing with the behaviour on top of it. Lucky I pay my counsellor well and have a hour out a week to moan without loosing friends haah
Hugs to everyone

Well I did the dumbest thing out last night! DP and I decided to get KFC(which normally I say no to) and I let charli have some fries....and she copied me by dipping them into the potato and gravy......well what ya know , she was up vomitting from 1-2.
Ummm se doesn't normally do vomitting with dairy so wonder what the culprit was. But it was definetly that as its a not normal food for her and sh had nothing else wrong to eat nor wrong with her. Woke up happy as and been fine all day. Anyone else had that?
Hope you all enjoying your weekends, ours is busy as usual and I have my sore throat and bugs back...gotta get me some good bugs I think
